BONC Kicks Off Community Tennis Sessions

Last Friday marked an exciting new chapter for the Burnt Oak Nepalese Community as we officially launched our community tennis tournament.
The initiative, driven by the Executive Team and overseen by our BONC Sports Coordinator, Himanshu Gyawali, aims to bring members together through sport, fitness, and friendly competition.
The very first session began with a symbolic opening match played by our chairman — though, unfortunately, victory slipped away this time! From there, matches carried on with participants of all skill levels picking up their rackets, the youngest being Artham Gyawali at just 12 years old.
The passion was undeniable, with players like Rupak Panta, Sumeet Gautam, and Ramesh Shrestha testing their competitive edge. Some may even say Rupak is obsessed with tennis — not only playing but also helping to guide and monitor the event as it unfolds. Meanwhile, others simply enjoyed a light-hearted rally, or show solidarity. The sense of community is strong in BONC.
With matches ongoing, interest is already growing — and some members have even expressed regret at missing the opening week. But this is only the beginning!

अस्ति बोर्न्ट ओक नेपाली समाज का लागि एउटा नयाँ र रोमाञ्चक अध्यायको सुरुवात भयो. हामीले आधिकारिक रूपमा हाम्रो सामुदायिक टेनिस प्रतियोगिता सुरु गर्यौं।
यस पहललाई कार्यकारी टिमले अघि बढाएको हो र हाम्रो BONC खेल समन्वयक हिमांशु ज्ञवालीले सम्हाल्नुभएको छ। यसको उद्देश्य खेल, फिटनेस र मैत्रीपूर्ण प्रतिस्पर्धा मार्फत सदस्यहरूलाई एकसाथ ल्याउनु हो। खेलकुद क्षेत्रमा यो पहल साँच्चिकै उत्कृष्ट थपिएको जस्तो लाग्छ।
पहिलो दिनको सत्र हाम्रो अध्यक्षज्यू र वेबमास्टरबीच भएको प्रतीकात्मक उद्घाटन खेलबाट सुरु भयो। त्यसपछि विभिन्न स्तरका सहभागीहरूले र्याकेट उठाउँदै खेलहरू निरन्तर बढाए, जसमा सबैभन्दा कान्छा सहभागी १२ वर्षका अर्थम ज्ञवाली हुन्।
रुपक पन्त, सुमित गौतम र रमेश श्रेष्ठले आफ्नो समर्पण प्रदर्शन गर्नुभयो। कतिपयले त रुपकलाई टेनिसप्रति "अत्यन्तै मोह" भएको पनि भन्छन् — खेल्ने मात्र होइन, कार्यक्रमलाई मार्गदर्शन र निगरानी गर्न पनि सक्रिय रहन्छन्। उहाँले त खेललाई गम्भीरतापूर्वक नखेलेको भन्दै वेबमास्टरलाई सम्झाउनु भयो।
केही सहभागीहरूले आफ्नो प्रतिस्पर्धी क्षमता जाँच्न आए भने, केहीले हल्का-फुल्का खेलमा रमाइलो गरे वा एकता देखाउन आए। BONC भित्रको सामुदायिक भावना प्रष्टै झल्किन्छ।
खेलहरू जारी रहँदा रुचि अझ बढ्दै गएको छ — कतिपय सदस्यहरूले उद्घाटन हप्तामा छुटाएकोमा खेद पनि व्यक्त गरेका छन्। तर यो त सुरुवात मात्रै हो!
