From Remembrance to Recognition

On Saturday, 20 June 2026, three programmes were held during a meeting of the Burnt Oak Nepalese Community. The meeting commenced with a two-minute silence in memory of members' loved ones who had recently passed away.

The first programme was a period of reflection and condolences for members who had recently lost loved ones. The Chair spoke about the challenges of bereavement and the importance of community support during difficult times. Members Kumar ji, Ashish ji and Himanshu ji expressed their appreciation for the support and kindness they had received from the community.

The second programme was a retrospective review of the recent community BBQ. Members reviewed the event accounts and discussed matters relating to the Temporary Event Notice (TEN), reflecting on the organisation and delivery of the event and identifying lessons for future activities.

In the recent local council elections, both Nepali-origin candidates from our borough were successfully re-elected. Councillor Lachhya Gurung was returned in the Edgwarebury Ward, while Councillor Kamal Gurung was re-elected in Burnt Oak Ward.

The third programme of the meeting was dedicated to congratulating Councillor Kamal Gurung on his re-election in Burnt Oak. Members extended their best wishes for a successful term ahead, while Councillor Gurung expressed his gratitude for the trust, support and confidence shown by the community.

Members also acknowledged the success of Councillor Lachhya Gurung, recalling a previous gathering he had hosted for members of the Burnt Oak Nepalese Community within his ward, and wished him every success in his forthcoming term of office.

Burnt Oak Nepalese Community extends its sincere appreciation to all volunteers who generously contribute their time, skills and energy throughout the year. Their commitment and dedication remain the backbone of the community and play a vital role in its continued success.

शोकको घडीमा एकअर्काको

साथमा समुदाय।

काउन्सिलर कमल गुरुङको सम्मान तथा शुभकामना कार्यक्रम

शनिबार, २० जुन २०२६ मा सम्पन्न बर्न्ट ओक नेपाली समुदायको बैठकमा तीनवटा फरक–फरक कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरिएको थियो। बैठकको सुरुवात हालै दिवंगत हुनुभएका सदस्यहरूका प्रियजनहरूको सम्झनामा दुई मिनेट मौनधारण गरेर गरिएको थियो।

पहिलो कार्यक्रममा हालै आफ्ना प्रियजन गुमाउनुभएका सदस्यहरूप्रति श्रद्धाञ्जली तथा समवेदना व्यक्त गरिएको थियो। अध्यक्षज्यूले शोकको कठिन समयमा समुदायको साथ, सहयोग र आत्मीयताको महत्त्वबारे मन्तव्य राख्नुभयो। यस अवसरमा कुमारजी, आशिषजी र हिमांशुजीले कठिन समयमा समुदायबाट प्राप्त सहयोग, सद्भाव र समवेदनाप्रति हार्दिक आभार व्यक्त गर्नुभयो।

दोस्रो कार्यक्रममा हालै सम्पन्न सामुदायिक BBQ कार्यक्रमको समीक्षा गरिएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा आय–व्यय विवरण प्रस्तुत गर्नुका साथै Temporary Event Notice (TEN) सम्बन्धी विषयमा छलफल गरिएको थियो। सदस्यहरूले कार्यक्रम सञ्चालनका विभिन्न पक्षहरूको समीक्षा गर्दै आगामी कार्यक्रमहरूलाई अझ व्यवस्थित र प्रभावकारी बनाउने विषयमा विचार आदान–प्रदान गरेका थिए।

हालै सम्पन्न स्थानीय काउन्सिल निर्वाचनमा काउन्सिलर लक्ष्य गुरुङ एड्गवेयरबरी (Edgwarebury) वडाबाट तथा काउन्सिलर कमल गुरुङ बर्न्ट ओक (Burnt Oak) वडाबाट निर्वाचित हुनुभएको कुरा हामी सबैलाई थाहै भएको विषय हो।

तेस्रो कार्यक्रममा हालै सम्पन्न स्थानीय काउन्सिल निर्वाचनमा सफलता हासिल गर्नुभएका काउन्सिलर कमल गुरुङलाई बधाई तथा शुभकामना व्यक्त गरिएको थियो। उपस्थित सदस्यहरूले उहाँको सफल कार्यकालको कामना गरे भने कमल गुरुङले समुदायबाट प्राप्त विश्वास, सहयोग र निरन्तर समर्थनप्रति हार्दिक धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गर्नुभयो।

यद्यपि काउन्सिलर लक्ष्य गुरुङ उक्त कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित हुनुहुन्नथ्यो, उहाँको निर्वाचन सफलताबारे पनि समाजघरमा सकारात्मक चर्चा भएको थियो। उहाँले यसअघि आफ्नो क्षेत्रमा बर्न्ट ओक नेपाली समुदायका सदस्यहरूसँग आयोजना गर्नुभएको भेटघाट कार्यक्रमको स्मरण गर्दै सदस्यहरूले उहाँको सफलताप्रति खुसी व्यक्त गरेका थिए तथा आगामी कार्यकाल सफल रहोस् भन्ने शुभकामना व्यक्त गरेका थिए।

यद्यपि निर्वाचन परिणामका विभिन्न पक्षहरूबारे चर्चा भएको थियो, उपस्थित धेरै सदस्यहरूका लागि नेपाली मूलका उम्मेदवारहरूको सफलता दलगत राजनीतिभन्दा पर समुदायको बढ्दो प्रतिनिधित्व, सहभागिता र योगदानको संकेतका रूपमा महसुस भएको थियो।

बर्न्ट ओक नेपाली समुदाय सम्पूर्ण स्वयंसेवकहरूलाई हार्दिक धन्यवाद तथा कृतज्ञता व्यक्त गर्दछ। उहाँहरूको निरन्तर सहयोग, सेवाभाव र समर्पणले समुदायलाई अझ सशक्त, संगठित र एकताबद्ध बनाउँदै आएको छ। यही सामूहिक भावना र सहकार्यले समुदायलाई अगाडि बढाइरहेको छ।

आउँदो शनिबार, २७ जुनमा हुने वाटलिङ कम्युनिटी सेन्टरको खुला दिवसमा काउन्सिलरहरूलाई बधाई तथा विविध मनोरञ्जनात्मक कार्यक्रमहरू रहनेछन्।
